Looking for all the US National Park units? Here’s a handy guide if you want to see them all.
We already have an ambitious goal of going to all 63 National Parks in the next few years, but we are also considering living on the road after we leave San Diego. That means we may have to do all 423 National Park Units (that’s how many there are as of 2022)! (Click links to see full posts + map at bottom)

Complete List of National Parks in the US
Pro Tip: We highly recommend the America is Beautiful pass that gets you into all the National Park units, USDA Forest Service, BLM lands, and more. We’ve gotten one every year for the past 5 years. If you don’t have one, you can also visit on free entrance days in 2022.
Also, these parks now require reservations to get in.
- January 16, 2023 – Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
- April 16, 2023 – First Day of National Park Week/National Junior Ranger Day
- August 4, 2023 – Anniversary of Great American Outdoors Act
- September 24, 2023 – National Public Lands Day
- November 11, 2023 – Veterans Day
If you are visiting any other dates, the entrance fees still go towards supporting the parks.

Essential Tips for Visiting National Parks in the USA
- Save money by getting the America the Beautiful Annual Pass if you plan on visiting more than one National Park within one year. This is good for any of the 400+ National Park units, Forest Service, BLM, and more. It is not accepted at state parks.
- If you like to get stamps from the visitor centers, pick up a Passport to the National Parks.
- Check in with park rangers when you first arrive. They can give you insight on the current conditions of the park and any “hidden gems”.

- Which National Parks to Visit in the Summer
- Least Visited National Parks
- Leave the park better than you found it. With the influx of new visitors, it’s hard for the park staff to clean up after them. Bring a trash bag with you, so that if you see any litter, you can help pick it up.
- Bring enough water with you, especially if you’re visiting dryer climates.
- Wear layers. Many parks can be hot during the day and drop to cold temperatures at night.
