Las Vegas Weather in September
- Average Temp in Las Vegas in September: high of 96° F, low of 57° F
- Rainfall: 0.3 inches
- Humidity: 17%
Although you can expect cooler weather in Las Vegas in September, it’s still hot during the day and much more pleasant at night. When the temps return to the 90s, locals get excited that fall is coming. However, we know that heat waves can still hit.
You’ll want to avoid being outside in the middle of the day by sticking with indoor activities or staying poolside. Keep in mind over Labor Day weekend (September 4-7), the pools are going to be packed.
Sunrise and sunsets are good for outdoor activities, like hiking, climbing, and boating at Lake Las Vegas or Lake Mead.
Additionally, most schools have started, so you should see hotel rates start to drop (although post-pandemic may look different).
See what to pack below.

Tips for Visiting Las Vegas in September
- Buy tickets early to popular shows and events. They sell out quickly!
- Read all the fine print before you go. Some shows have limitations on what you can bring (for instance, no large bags).
- Pack layers – it can get cool at night, and AC is always pumping indoors. I keep a light jacket in the car year-round.
- Don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, or any other gear for sun protection if you’re doing outdoor activities.
- Arrive early at the shows/events. Casinos can be a maze to navigate. In addition, it usually takes longer than you think to get from one spot on the strip to another.

What to Wear in Vegas in September
September is still hot during the day, but the AC keeps the casinos cold.
- Bring layers – layers are essential for visiting Las Vegas. As the temperatures get hot outside, they crank up AC inside. These are our favorite travel jackets.
- Dressy clothes – pack them if you plan to go clubbing or fine dining. You will see a mix of tourists in casinos dressed both up and down.
- Shoes – If you’re going out at night, you’ll probably bring heels or dress shoes, but make sure you bring a pair of comfortable travel shoes as well. The casinos are massive, and you walk a lot from place to place.
- Want to know what to wear to the airport? Here’s my ideal airport outfit and our carry-on essentials for every flight.

Is September the Best time to Visit Las Vegas?
If you’re mostly going to be indoors on the Strip, visit any time of the year since the temperature won’t matter.
For outdoor activities like hiking and climbing, you should visit between November and March. But if you’re here for the pool parties and lake life, this is the time!
In our opinion, we like leaving Vegas during July and August, but you do you!
