One of the greatest things about living in Vegas is that on any given night, there are plenty of options for going out. Some that are even free. Since we’re on a limited budget for our date nights, it’s a fun challenge for us to find good affordable activities. And since Jacob is so frugal, he makes sure we stay on budget – that’s the advantage of a frugal husband… I guess. :P
Most people who go to Vegas think of the strip, but just a few miles away is Downtown Las Vegas, a strip of old vegas on Fremont Street that they’ve turned into a great area to walk around. One of the attractions there is the Fremont Experience where they have a lit canopy overhead with nightly light shows. There are 12.5 million lights up there! They have live music, and even though I’m not much of a romantic, I think it can be a nice, romantic spot to walk around at night. You can also walk through the classic casinos or even do slotzilla – a zipline through the canopy – if you want!

The Fremont Experience Las Vegas Tips:
- Show times are every hour on the hour from 6PM to 12AM.
- Parking – There is a lot of street parking and also a few free parking decks for casinos. We park at El Cortez.
- For an added bonus, head over the Fremont Street East to check out some great local bars!
