Instead of a typical gratitude post this week, I decided that I want to share about Heart Philippines. It’s a relief project for all types of creatives: youtubers, bloggers, musicians, diy-ers, etc. We did one on a smaller scale for Japan after the earthquake, and we figured this is the least we could do right now after the typhoon in the Philippines. As of yesterday, it was reported that 11 million people have been affected, 673000 displaced, and 2500 killed. During times like this, I really wish I had done what my parents wished for me and gone into the medical field.
Instead, I am hoping that spreading the word via blog and what little money we can give will make some sort of difference in the lives of the victims affected. Last time we hosted a fundraiser, we were incredibly humbled by the response. I know it’s hard to say you’re grateful in the same breath describing such tragic circumstances. I can’t even pretend to know the grief and sorrow from the lives lost and the devastation. Despite this, I’m thankful that all of us have a voice and we all have something to share. We can all give in some form or fashion. Like Mother Teresa said, “If you can’t feed 100, then feed just one.” Might be referencing her a lot, since I’ve been reading her autobiography these days.
I’m part of heart philippines, and would love for you to be part of it too! You can donate, buy a shirt, help spread the word, or get creative in the ways you can give! Thank you in advance!
This is week 9 of participating in the gratitude link-up series, and you can see my other gratitude posts here:
