Archery Lessons at Impact Archery Las Vegas

Archery Lessons at Impact Archery Las Vegas

We’ve always talked about doing archery classes together, and now that we’re doing Alphabet dates this year, we figured this would be the perfect time to try it out!

We decided to check out Impact Archery Las Vegas. The hourly lessons include everything you need. They have an indoor range, which is great since the weather can get rather warm in the summer. If you’ve ever been to Vegas in the summer, you know what I’m talking about.

When we arrived there were a few folks getting their bows serviced in the shop and a few people shooting in the range. We met our instructor, and he set us up with our own bows and a closer target (10 yards).

We started off by going over the safety rules, how to be courteous to other archers on the range, and the basics of shooting a bow. We then got a chance to each get some one-on-one instruction on our form and the mechanics of archery. It took a few shots to get the general movements right.

When he felt that we knew what we were doing, he let us go at our own pace and practice on the targets. It was a lot harder and required a lot more strength than I had expected There’s a lot of adjusting you have to do, and that’s not even having to worry about wind when you’re outside.

After shooting for another half hour, Jacob decided to go for the long targets (20 yards), but he was back on our shorter ones soon enough.

Jacob kept insisting to take photos with his hood on saying he was the Arrow. I don’t watch the show, so I have no words for him.

It was a lot of fun and we hope to do it more often. You never know when you might have to shoot a bow and arrow! They also run other events like Archery Tag and an Indoor League.

  1. et me begin by saying the range here is convenient and very well set up for indoor shooting. My complaints aren’t with the range itself but with several individuals who frequent there and the business practices around ordering supplies and equipment.

I began shooting here in 2018 and didn’t have any issues until I ordered my first set of arrows from here. I waited about 6 months for a set with little explanation as to why. When I came in to request a refund after waiting several months I was told by the girl working at the time that I’d need to speak with the owner, who I could hardly catch at the store. Eventually I gave up and bought different arrows from another business.

In 2019 I was convinced to give them another shot and order a new bow from here. I waited another 5-7 months with little explanation as to why it was taking so long. Eventually the owner notified me through and employee who worked there at the time that my riser I had ordered would no longer be coming and I’d have to buy a newer, and more expensive, riser to be compatible with my limbs. I was convinced to not fight for a refund and get the new riser, and eventually confronted the owner for an explanation as to what happened and why I was forced to wait so long.

He gave me a bunch of excuses about the supplier and told me that I had ordered the riser during the wrong time of year, when companies have a tendency to phase out old ones and roll out the new. Why he took my money knowing this and let me wait all that time just to pay $100’s of dollars more is beyond me.

I’ve had friends who shoot here, and worked here, who have been harassed and mistreated by friends of the owner who did nothing to solve the issues and allowed his friends to continue to harass and spread lies about an individual who used to be there.

Recently the owner was caught posting a Facebook video he recorded of a customer learning to shoot and making fun of them for their inexperience. When found out he tried to cover it up and deny recording it on his phone.

The level of unprofessionalism exhibited by the owner and the issues that myself and my friends / loved ones have had here have really ruined my love for this place. I hope that those of you who have read this far will take this into consideration when shooting here and ordering from this business.

    1. Thanks for letting us know this, Austin! Our experience was pleasant, but we have only been once. I’m sad to hear that they are not treating their customers fairly.
