Earlier this year, we had the chance to visit the Procter & Gamble offices as ambassadors of the Swiffer brand. We were so excited to be chosen as ambassadors since we’ve been using Swiffer products for years. It’s amazing how much our two orange tabbies shed, but we love how easy Swiffer makes cleaning up after them.
As part of their program, we had the opportunity to help launch their “Welcome Home” child’s first pet campaign in NYC. We even had the chance to meet Scott Foley and some pet celebrities that joined in to kick off the event! Here are Tinkerbelle and Cookie:
Is everyone caught up on Scandal? I’ve always been #teamjake but even more so now.
We also met Masako, a pet portrait artist, and we got a portrait of Sebastian done by her!
When we decided to add to our family, we immediately knew we wanted to adopt our pets from a rescue. We had been volunteering at a shelter in Atlanta at the time, and while we were there, Mika and Sebastian chose us as owners and not vice versa. Funny how that happens sometimes.
According to the second annual Swiffer Cleaning Index, while 93% of American parents feel that having a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences a child can have, 75% of those who do not already have a pet agree that concerns over pet-related messes could prevent them from getting one. When you bring a new pet into your family, you also bring a tremendous opportunity to teach your kids compassion and responsibility. 93% of American parents think that having a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences a child can have, and 57% of parents think caring for a pet is better for teaching their child responsibility than doing chores around the house.
The mess they make never outweighs the love and affection we get from them.
Which is cuter: Jacob holding Lula or Scott holding Jacob?
I can’t imagine our home without our guys, and although we don’t have kids.. if / when we do, we will want to continue having animals be part of their lives. I can still remember the first time we brought home our very own pets and how much they changed our lives.
Five dogs from this event found forever homes. In addition, Swiffer and Bark & Co. (the makers of BarkBox) will be giving away 10,000 Welcome Home Kits to shelters nationwide, and Swiffer will make a $50,000 total donation to distribute to select shelters nationwide this holiday season to support critical projects that will help more dogs find their fur-ever homes.
If you are considering adopting an animal this holiday season, be sure to check out this site to see what shelters are in your area.
Don’t forget to check out our vlog from the event!
Did you grow up with a pet? What are some tips you can share to new pet owners?
Thank you Swiffer for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are our own.
Thank you for supporting the brands that make Local Adventurer possible.
