AFFILIATES

We want to maintain this blog to be an authentic and reliable resource. It is our promise to be 100% transparent and disclose how we make our living off of Local Adventurer.

This is a for-profit blog with affiliate links where we receive a small commission on sales of the linked products at no additional cost to you. If you return the product, the commission is rescinded. These affiliate links help us to continue improving our content and keep this site running.

Our affiliate relationships do not affect our opinions, and we only feature products that we already own or would recommend! Authenticity is important to us, so we’ve turned down many brand deals and sent back products that were not a good fit for us and our readers.  Here is a comprehensive list of the brands that we are proud and fortunate to have as partners and sponsors.

Thank you for supporting Local Adventurer and the brands that make this possible.

GIVING BACK

Local Adventurer also partners with the following non-profits and folks doing amazing things in the community and the world. By reading our blog or making a purchase using any of our affiliate links, you are helping support:

  • Thirst Project – Did you know $25 can provide one person with clean drinking water for life? So far, with your help, Local Adventurer has built four wells with Thirst Project. You can also start your own fundraising project, donate, or learn more about how you can help here. Seth and the folks at Thirst Project inspire us to live more generously every day.
  • Presencia – a neighborhood-based tutoring, mentoring, and leadership development program in Atlanta’s immigrant community. We have watched our friends, Ian and Ruthie, work tirelessly for over a decade to be a second mom and dad to these kids. We’ve also watched these kids grow up and become leaders in their community. You can read more about our recent trip with the student leaders.
  • Furkids – the largest cage-free no-kill shelter in the Southeast. Mika and Sebastian (who passed in 2022) were from here, and we’ve always admired Sam and all the volunteers and their love for all animals.
  • Best Friend Animal Sanctuary – one of the largest no-kill shelters in the US, and their goal is to make the entire national no-kill by 2023. We adopted Ollie and Leo from here.

Our goal is that 50% of our profits will go to giving back. We’re not quite there yet, but maybe in 1-2 years!

Methodology

As Local Adventurers, we not only explore our greater backyard, but also research and test products that we take on our adventures. We provide honest reviews based on our experience.

First, we research and reference multiple online resources, expert opinions of people we trust, and third-party accreditations. Next, we narrow down the top items and reach out to brands for PR samples or purchase items to test ourselves.

There are many factors to consider for gear, including price point, durability, how it fits your body type, sustainability, and more. Although we aim to find sustainably made gear, ultimately, we find that the most sustainable products are the ones that we actually love and use that last us a long time.
