Our Orange Tabby Cats

I haven’t updated you on our two boys in a while. For those of you who are new readers, we adopted two orange tabby cats in 2011. We can’t tell if they feel lucky to have a home with us, but we know we are lucky to have them. Today is day one of our road trip up to Vancouver right now, and we’re so sad to be leaving these faces behind! Luckily, I have a stash of photos I keep on my phone whenever I miss them. :)

This was a photo I took of Sebastian at the shelter. At the time I was only volunteering at Furkids and taking photos of cats that needed homes. I took this photo that day, but little did I know I would be taking him home later that month!

I used to be more of a dog person. I had cats as pets as well, but it wasn’t until I married Jacob that I became more of a cat person. These photos were from the first week we brought them to our home.

To see more of them, follow them on instagram!

We’re so grateful for these guys. When I’m stressed from doing different tasks throughout the day, they remind me to take a breather, relax, and to enjoy life. And also pet them while I’m at it. ;)

Also, since we’re on the road till the 28th, sorry if I’m slow to respond to comments. I always love reading what you have to say, and I promise I will get back to you ASAP.

Do you have pets? What kind of pet?

xoxo estherJacob

Seriously, that picture of them snuggling… pure cuteness!

  3. Jessica Angeles

We’re going to Vegas in August! Hopefully you’re in town so we can come meet your cats and I can overcome my fears haha :)

  4. Ashley

They are SO cute! I used to have an orange tabby cat :) We now have two dogs – a beagle coonhound mix and an american foxhound – and a tuxedo cat :)

    1. That’s so awesome! It’s a full family! I think we may eventually get one dog.. so it will be the reverse of you.. two cats and one dog! :)

  5. Lauren

Awwww what cuddle bugs! I love the picture of your cats holding each other!!

  6. Misun Chun

Love cuddle pictures!! I have a very chill 2 yrs old long hair mini dachshund ;) he’s blond and lot of people think he’s doxie and goldie mix! Can’t live without my fur baby :)

  7. Hima

I’m not a cat person (mostly because I’m allergic haha), but your photos are beautiful! I love the one where they’re both cuddling :)

    1. Aw that’s too bad you’re allergic. Though.. I am allergic to pineapples but it does not stop me from eating them! haha I guess it depends on how bad your allergy is. Thank you! :)

  8. Carly Anderson

Your cats are so pretty! I love the one of them cuddling together – too cute!

  9. Kailei Pew

I’ve never been much of a cat person, but these pictures could turn me! Cute!

  10. They are so cute! i love their faces, they’re sort of foxy. Isn’t it weird how cats heads can be shaped so differently? Most of our cats have very full and large heads.

    1. Yeah one has a more foxy face.. and the other one looks more like an avatar with his eyes far apart. haha I grew up thinking most cats had very similar faces.. but they really are very different!

  11. Anosa

    Awwww sebastien is so cute

    1. Haha he is the odder looking one.. but people sometimes say he looks like puss in boots bc he has such big eyes.. either that or an avatar.

  12. Jordan

Love the lighting on the cuddley photos. Beautiful :)

  13. Deidre Miller

I am allergic to cats. But you make me think I would still want one!

    1. Aww sorry to hear! I hear some people grow an immunity.. :) but I know some of my friends who have allergies.. it’s really awful.

  14. Rebekah

They are so precious, and beautiful photos as always. I love cats but both my husband and my son are allergic (and probably my daughter – she hasn’t been exposed yet but odds are…)

    1. Thank you Rebekah! It must be tough having allergies like that though.. It really limits you. I think some animals are hypoallergenic. Some friends who have visited who normally have cat allergies say they are fine with ours.. though I don’t think ours are hypoallergenic

  15. Karissa Ancell

Oh how adorable, if I worked in a shelter, I’d bring home all the animals.

  16. Joanna Sormunen

Amazing pics, but you do always have amazing pics in your blog :) We also have two cats but they are not nearly as good friends.

    1. Thank you so much Joanna. :) I think it’s especially hard with cats if you get them at different times. We were extremely lucky because they were already brothers and bonded pairs at the shelter… but I have had a lot of friends who sometimes had issues with their cats not liking each other.

      1. Joanna Sormunen

We had one cat first and then the other later on. They are both male and the cat we had first, Kissa, he really heated the new cat, Peluche. It was hating with passion. Now they are sort of friends but Kissa still beats Peluche from time to time. Not a nice friendship.

  17. Sierra

    Soooo cute. I love cats!

  18. Lissa Cole

Oh my goodness they are so cute! I just got an orange and white tabby. I love cats so much.

  19. Neely

Im terribly allergic but they are adorable!

    1. Aww that’s so hard when you’re allergic. I know people who worked at the shelter that somehow grew an immunity.. I think sometimes it’s also enough exposure.. but not sure if it works for everyone.

  20. Kristine Foley

So beautiful and awesome they have each other!

    1. :) Thanks! They really are super sweet cats. They actually act very dog like and do tricks too if you see their instagram. :)

  21. Shannon Kennedy

The one of them cuddling is just too much. I had tabbies growing up and I miss having a cat.

  22. The cutest! We love cats (and dogs) and can’t wait to get one of our own :)

    1. :) haha I have a hard time picking.. I just love all furry animals. Do you think you’ll get a cat or a dog first?

  23. Oh they are so very cute and sweet looking…I love the photo of them together at the window! They remind me a little of Eddie (he is a bit lighter but with orange tabby markings). We have both a cat and dog, so no need to pick sides for us (ha, ha).
Have a great trip!! Also I got my earrings, I love them…thank you!! I’m keep meaning to post on IG and will but I need to get the picture off the camera.

    1. :) i can be a bit of both.. I like both dogs and cats.. but I do have to admit that cats make traveling so much easier! So glad you got them. :) I want to see them on you! :D

  24. Amy

oh my gosh they are so dang cute!
I am most definitely more of a cat person haha.
