Exploring the Beautiful Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu California

Leo Carrillo State Beach - Local Adventurer.Pin

Welcome to the Local Adventurer Link Up. The purpose of this weekly link up is to foster gratitude for the place you live, show others great local experiences that they might never find as a tourist, and to inspire others to explore and be present wherever they are.

DISCOVERY CONSISTS NOT OF SEEKING NEW LANDS BUT SEEING WITH NEW EYES.

Our local adventure this week is Leo Carrillo State Beach. I know this isn’t in Vegas, but this was a local adventure while we were living in LA last year. I have so much content I still need to share from LA!

Leo Carrillo Beach is in the Malibu area and is one of our favorite beaches we’ve been to so far in SoCal. It is only an hour drive from North Hollywood (maybe longer, because if you’ve ever been to Los Angeles, you know how it is). It has 1.5 miles of beach where you can swim, surf, and explore coastal caves and reefs. There are also hiking trails and campgrounds available, so this beach pretty much has it all. :)

When we went, we could see that it was a popular spot for photographers, and we learned that many movies have been filmed here including the Karate Kid, Grease, and Inception. When you’re in the LA area, it’s fun to know that you’re practically walking onto a set almost everywhere you go.

      1. Raewyn Smith

we didn’t have a bonfire, but we did have a pretty epic adventure. Or maybe we did have a bonfire and I don’t remember!! I DO remember hiding on the beach and getting kicked out by cops though!

    1. Thank you Lissa! :) Up is one of my fave movies! We’re not living by the beach anymore anymore. We live in Vegas now.. Funny bc when we lived in LA we didn’t take advantage of it.

      1. Lissa Cole

Shoot, I already commented on this, another link you want a comment on for the sprinkles link up?

  24. Erika

All I could picture when scrolling through your gorgeous pics was Sandy and Danny in the opening scene of GREASE. (one of my all-time favorite movies from childhood.)

      1. Erika

It’s the very very very beginning of the movie… before the grease song comes on. When Sandy and Danny are like, “Will our love last?” and Danny is like, “This is only the beginning…”

  25. Shannon Kennedy

Gorgeous photos! First time ever I was prepared for the linkup. I think I’m getting the hang of this :)
