The Last Bookstore Los Angeles – Coolest Bookstore in America

Since Jacob had picked last week’s date choice, this week I chose books and pies!  I saw the Last Bookstore LA popping up all over my instagram. It was the coolest, most unique looking bookstore I’ve ever seen, so I knew I had to give it a visit. It made the perfect location for our second date spot.

The Last Bookstore is a labyrinth of new and used books and we could really stay lost in there. The store is also filled with permanent artistic creations as well as an artist’s gallery.

You’re so welcome. It’s such a cool place! Thanks for introducing it to us!

    1. esther julee

haha there are pros and cons with every city, but you should at least visit! :)

  2. holy canoli! I NEED to go to that book store! did you buy any books? I need to live vicariously through others ya know…

    1. esther julee

you really should! we didn’t end up buying any books bc we know we’ll be moving in a few weeks.. but i wanted to buy books there just to support them and make sure they stay in business. :)

  3. Esther, I love the way you guys roll! Books & Pies has got to be the best date night combination ever–so much so that I’m totally stealing it and putting a Detroit spin on it :)

    1. esther julee

you should do that! :) tell me when you post about it. i need to steal some of your date ideas too.

  4. What amazing pics, when I first looked at them I thought they were promotional images, great shots – what camera do you use? If you dont mind me asking?! And the place… wow… something I would love to visit one day as a book and pie lover myself, great choices of places haha!

Thank you Ria! I have a Canon Mark III. :) I know it’s pretty expensive, but I only have it bc I used to shoot portraits and weddings professionally and stopped when we moved to LA. I’m just trying to still make good use of it in the meantime. I hope to switch to commercial travel photography one day so it means a lot! :)

I can’t even believe that bookstore is a real place! Those photos look so magical! And that pie– delicious! Such a cute idea!

    1. esther julee

Thanks so much @carlyblogshere:disqus! :) It was a really good idea that they set up the place like that. Felt like I was in Harry Potter land or something. :) The pies were so good. My mouth is watering just thinking about them again.

LOVE this! And your photos – beyond gorgeous as always!

Thanks so much Heather! You should come see it for yourself. I think you guys would really like it. :)

Would love to!! I’ve pinned it for the next time we go to Cali!

Wow! What a beautiful bookstore! I live in Orange County so only about 30 minutes from LA. My boyfriend and I go on dates there quite a bit and this bookstore is now on my list of places to visit! Those pies look so great! I’m Celiac though so it’s always nice to “eat” vicariously through others!

Isn’t it? I’m so glad I discovered it this year. You’ll have to let me know what you think when you visit! I’ve never seen anything like it, and they did a really good job making it into an experience. What are some of your fave places to go in LA?

      1. Jessica Angeles

We really like Sticky Rice at Grand Central Market. Andy and I are both HUGE Friends fans so we really like the Paley Center for Media (you get to sit in the coffee shop on the actual couch they used!). I also really like Watts Towers (not the most romantic date spot but so cool!), Blipsy Bar is fun for a night time date. We were really touristy once and took one of those Hollywood home tours which ended up being extremely cool too! Andy and I really focus on going on a date at least once a week as well. Usually we go to Disneyland because we’re so close to it and have passes, but it’s fun to check out new places! I’m really looking forward to reading more about your dates!

        1. esther julee

I LOVE friends!! I will have to check it out. :) Thanks for all the recommendations. Now I have to figure out which ones we have time for!
