So we tried our floating bar set up two ways. The first was to dump all of the ice and our drinks into the cooler directly. The cooler held up just fine this way and kept everything cold, even after the ice had melted. The second (and preferred) way was to load up a cooler bag (the kind you use for grocery shopping) with ice and/or freezer packs and our drinks and then put that bag in the floating cooler. This was by far the better option, not only did it keep everything cold longer but it made restocking much easier and kept the inside dry in case we wanted to put snacks in the cooler as well.
All in all I'm very happy with this purchase and will be taking it with me whenever I'm on the water. The cooler is well made, perfect in size (our group was about 10 people and everyone had what they needed), and a great value!
Also, never underestimate the value of 6 floating cup holders when preparing cocktails on the water. Total game changer.
Pros:
Everything
Cons:
I should have bought this a long time ago.

I should have bought this a long time ago.
For my family, we originally purchased for when we go to the lake in the summer. The shore area water is about knee high, which where we play volleyball, and about 40-50 feet out, the water is 6-7 feet deep where we have a little floating platform the kids dive off and we get on the boat for tubing and skiing. We just tie this bad boy on to the pier and we don't have to get out of the water every time we want a beer or soda.
When we're at the lake, we do use a cooler and put it inside the Pool Chiller. Being directly in the sun, having everything in the cooler helps the ice last a little longer, usually 4-5 hours. Just putting the ice directly inside the Pool Cooler works fine but I find it's a better suited for doing when you're in your home pool. It still keeps the ice from melting for a good 2-4 hours (depending on the temp and how sunny it is) and you can probably fit another 12-18 cans inside.
Something else that's really nice about this is the portability. There are times we'll just go for a cruise on the boat or we'll go to the other side of the lake where the water's deeper and the kids go diving. It's real easy to load this on the boat and then just plop it in the water when we get there, the kids do their thing and we just lounge in the water and tie this on to the boat.
I've had it for two years now and it's still going strong. I was expecting only a couple seasons, maybe another reviewer can speak better to the longevity. But, if you spend a lot of time in the water, this is a must have and a great value!
At one point, we actually tied it off to the side of our canoe and used it as our cocktail bar with all the cup holders. It was a hit with the entire party we went with. The river we were on is a wide, winding river with tree tops and snags here and there that you can manage around. The water depth was perfect for canoeing but even in the shallows this raft held up just fine. I had no worries what so ever about popping this raft but DON'T BE STUPID obviously. All in all, there were several other people on the river that day with comments about the raft and questions on where I got it. I'm sure more were sold through Amazon by the end of the summer. In the end, the raft, the pump and the rope...I think I was around $45 in to it and it was worth every penny. Can't wait to use it again next year!!

That said, it doe come in handy. I like to float on a raft and read a book in the back yard pool. It is great for keeping drinks or snacks close at hand. I also use it as a place to set my phone, book, and other things that i don't want to get wet.
